UNITED NATIONS, N. Y., Aug. 6 (Reuters)—Secretary General Thant reported today that a United Nations working group had been established in Geneva to coordinate the total United Nations relief effort for East Pakistan.
He said arrangements were being made to recruit 38 people from various countries to serve as staff members during the first phase of a new organizational plan.
“All expenses connected with the relief effort in East Pakistan will be covered from voluntary contributions made in response to the Secretary General's appeals,” Mr. Thant said in a statement. Mr. Thant will confer here Monday with Secretary of State William P. Rogers on the East Pakistani problem.
