BRUSSELS, Oct. 26 —Prime Minister Indira Gandhi said here today that there was nothing unusual in “massive arms deliveries” to India by the Soviet Union, as reported in the press.
Asked about possible Indian intervention in the East Pakistan crisis, Mrs. Gandhi, who is on a tour of Western Europe, said India had no desire to force a solution on the inhabitants of East Pakistan, who should be allowed to decide their own future.
The Indian leader denied that she had come to Europe to ask for aid in dealing with the refugees from Pakistan, who constitute a heavy burden for India. She did say that the rich nations were not doing enough to help the refugees. Of an estimated $800‐million required, she said, $140‐million has been promised and no more than $30‐million provided.
