GENEVA, Dec. 13—The International Committee of the Red Cross announced today that it would assist the wounded and prisoners of both sides in the Indian‐Pakistani war. A committee spokesman said that India and Pakistan had agreed to accept Red Cross help.
The two Governments, the spokesman said, declared that they were prepared to respect their commitments under the Geneva conventions and entrust the committee with insuring that war victims were humanely treated.
A similar assurance that the Bangla Desh (Bengal Nation) rebel movement of East Pakistan would abide by the conventions has also been received, the spokesman said. The International Committee is making arrangements to send nine representatives to reinforce the two it now has on both sides of the conflict, the spokesman said.
