Delhi, May 9.— Pakistani forces today shelled the Sonamura area in the eastern Indian border state of Tripura, the Press Trust of India reported. It said one Indian was killed and another wounded.
Another dispatch said there had been an exchange of fire between Pakistani forces and "liberation forces" in Kushtia sector, in the western region of East Pakistan. At least five Pakistani soldiers were killed.
In Meherpur subsector "freedom fighters" were reported to be continuing to shell Army positions on the east bank of the River Bhairab.
The press agency said two Pakistani Air Force Sabre jets violated Indian air space yesterday.
Quoting an informed source, it said the two aircraft, which took off from Lalmanirhat airfield in the Rangpur district of East Pakistan, penetrated deep into Indian air space before turning back. It was the second reported violation of Indian air space by Pakistani aircraft in the past two weeks.— Agence France Presse.

Karachi. May 9.— Pakistan has detained three minor politicians under a recent decreed martial law regulation giving sweeping powers over anyone suspected of harmful activities.
The Sindhi poet, Sheikh Ayaz, who is also president of the Sukkur Bar Association, was detained at the bar offices at Sukkur, some 230 miles north-east of Karachi. He is alleged to be the convener in Sind Province of the outlawed Awami League. — Reuter.
