Rawalpindi, May 21. — Aid-giving countries are expected to agree at a meeting in July to accept a six-month payment moratorium, which Pakistan has declared, sources said today.
The statement was made on the return from the United States of Mr. M. Ahmed, a presidential economic adviser, who it was said was unsuccessful in his attempt to gain promises of economic assistance from the United States or the international lending agencies.
The sources said the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (I.M.F.) will send special missions to East Pakistan before the July meeting. The I.M.F. is considering Pakistan's request for a $60m. standby loan to cushion the foreign exchange outflow.
