Reception centres have been established at check points in East Pakistan to receive the returning refugees and offer medical assistance. The stream of refugees follows the Indian government's order to all foreign relief workers to leave the nation, which, accompanied by the current Monsoon rains, has made conditions in the Indian refugee camps dismal.

Their exodus from India follows Monsoon rains that have caused dismal conditions in the emergency camps established for them, the expulsion of foreign relief workers by Indian officials, and the halt to the airlift by foreign-supplied aircraft of Pakistanis within India's borders.

Arrivals in the Indian camps of East Pakistani refugees has recently diminished. But there still are about seven million Pakistani refugees in India. United Nations representatives have arrived in East Pakistan to aid the returning refugees.
