Background: Four weeks after cyclones and tidal waves devastated the southern delta in East Pakistan relief supplies finally are sufficient. The dead have been buried, much rubble ha been cleared, and the countryside seems almost normal.

Normal lines of supply into the stricken areas are re-opening. More and more relief supplies are arriving by truck and riverboat. The supplies are no longer being scattered from hovering helicopters in random fashion.

Distribution centres have been set up throughout most of the disaster area. At these centres Pakistani bureaucrats carefully dole out measured amounts of clothing and food. Each family is allowed one pound of wheat and rice per day.

After a slow start the government now appears to be doing about as well as could be expected in providing relief to the survivors. It will still be difficult for them for a long time. They will have to depend on outside food, but a least Relief seems sufficient.
