THE DEMONSTRATORS WERE PROTESTING AGAINST THE ARMY ACTION IN EAST PAKISTAN. REPORTS OF TANKS AND AIRCRAFT BEING USED AGAINST EAST PAKISTAN BREAKAWAY FACTIONS HAVE BEEN MONITORED ON INDIAN RADIO STATIONS. LEADERS OF THE DEMONSTRATION INCLUDED MR SHASHI BUSHAN AND MR MUKUL BANNERJEE, BOTH MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT BELONGING TO PRIME MINISTER INDIRA GANDHI'S RULING CONGRESS PARTY.
