Background: Over a thousand pro-Bangla Desh supporters marched through the streets of London today, calling for a halt in British and United States' aid to Pakistan. They handed in protest notes at the U.S. Embassy in Grosvenor Square and the Prime Minister's residence in Downing Street. The letters claimed that British and American arms had been used by Pakistan Government troops in fighting in East Pakistan to put down a bid for independence. The demonstration was peaceful, and there were no arrests.

The break-away movement re-named East Pakistan as Bangla Desh. The demonstrators than handed in protest notes to the American embassy and the Prime Minister's residence in Downing Street, condemning British and American involvement in what they called "the rape of Bangla Desh and the stifling of democracy."
